Who we are

TapTales is made and sold by the developer named on its App Store page (“we”, “us”). These terms cover your use of the TapTales app and this website. By downloading or using TapTales you agree to them, and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies. If the two disagree, these terms apply as far as the law and Apple allow.

Using TapTales

TapTales is for a parent, guardian or other grown-up to make picture stories and give them to a child. The grown-up who installs the app and holds the subscription is responsible for how it's used, including by the children they hand it to. You need an Apple device and, for syncing and family sharing, an iCloud account.

We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as Apple's rules for the App Store allow.

TapTales Pro

• Price and billing. TapTales Pro is an auto-renewing subscription at the price shown in the app before you buy (US $9.99 a month, or the local equivalent). Payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase.
• Renewal. The subscription renews automatically each month at the same price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the next month within the 24 hours before the period ends.
• Cancelling. Manage or cancel any time in your device's Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from Settings in TapTales. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the month you've paid for.
• Refunds. Apple handles all payments and refunds. Ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• What's included. Pro's features and limits are the ones described in the app when you subscribe — for example, five stories a month narrated by a storyteller voice. Narration allowances reset each month and don't carry over. We may change what Pro includes; if a change makes it worse for you, we'll say so in the app before your next renewal, so you can cancel.

Your stories and recordings

What you write and record in TapTales stays yours. It lives on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and we never receive it — except the words of a story you ask us to narrate, which we pass to our voice provider to make the audio and then don't keep. The privacy policy has the details.

When you share stories with your family in the app, the people you add can see them and, depending on the access you give, record in and edit them. Recordings someone makes in your stories are stored in your iCloud and stay with you if they leave.

Only put into TapTales what you have the right to use. Don't use it to copy and distribute books or other material you don't own, and don't use the narration feature to make audio of anything unlawful, hateful or meant to harm someone. We can refuse narration requests that break these terms.

The bundled stories

The twelve classic stories and their narration are included for use within the app. You can read and listen to them as much as you like; please don't extract or redistribute the audio.

Things we ask you not to do

• Try to get around the app's limits, subscriptions or the server that makes narration — for example by sending it requests from anything other than the app.
• Reverse engineer, resell or rent the app, except where the law says you may.
• Use TapTales in a way that breaks the law or someone else's rights.

No guarantees

We work hard to keep TapTales running and your stories safe, but the app is provided “as is”. Syncing and family sharing depend on Apple's iCloud, and narration depends on an outside voice provider; we can't promise either will always be available. Keep copies of anything you can't bear to lose.

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losing stories or recordings, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for TapTales Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited by agreement.

Ending

You can stop using TapTales at any time by deleting it and cancelling any subscription. We may stop offering the app, or a feature of it, in the future; if we do, we'll give notice in the app where we can, and the stories in your iCloud remain yours.

Changes

If we change these terms we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change matters. Continuing to use TapTales after a change means you accept it.
